Landscape Lighting Transformers

An outdoor landscape lighting transformer is generally plugged into a grounded outdoor power receptacle or is 'hard-wired' into a dedicated breaker. Transformers are designed to reduce 110 volt current (standard) to a "safe" 12 volts (low voltage). Many of the professional model transformers are also available in higher voltages (13v, 14v, 15v, 16v, 17v, and now 24v) to help account for the voltage drop across longer wire run distances.
