Wilkins XT-8 Thermal Expansion Tank, 2.1 Gal (3/4 NPT)
The Wilkins XT-8 thermal expansion tank protects residential potable hot water systems from pressure increases caused by thermal expansion. With a compact 2.1 gallon (8 L) tank volume and 1.0 gallon acceptance, the XT-8 is designed for installation on the potable water line between a backflow preventer or pressure reducing valve and the water heater.
- Capacity: 2.1 gallons (8 L) total volume; approximately 1.0 gallon acceptance volume.
- Connection: 3/4-inch MNPT inlet/outlet for standard residential hookups.
- Construction: Epoxy-coated carbon steel shell with polypropylene inner lining and stainless steel connection.
- Diaphragm & Air Charge: Butyl rubber diaphragm; factory pre-charged to 40 PSI and adjustable for system requirements.
- Ratings: 200°F maximum temperature rating; 80 PSI typical maximum supply, 150 PSI maximum allowable working pressure.
- Dimensions & Warranty: Approximately 8" diameter x 10.5" height; lightweight for easy mounting; backed by a manufacturer warranty.
Built to meet potable water standards and lead-free requirements, the XT-8 reduces the risk of relief valve cycling and pressure-related damage by absorbing expanded water volume. Its polypropylene-lined chamber and butyl diaphragm resist corrosion and maintain reliable performance in domestic hot water systems. For best results, mount the tank on the cold-water line between the pressure-reducing device or backflow preventer and the water heater, follow the included installation instructions, and verify the pre-charge matches your system pressure before commissioning.
